ESPN College Football analyst Paul Finebaum has been a past critic of Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, but things have changed over the past few years. These days Finebaum is very complimentary of Smart, who is in his seventh season with the Bulldogs.
Finebaum was a guest on a webcast with Jim Donnan and Dayne Young where he spoke about Smart.
“I think he has grown up so much as a head coach,” Finebaum said. “First year or two maybe he was a little emotional and you saw that in game. You don’t see that anymore.”
“The national championship lifted whatever baggage or weight he had on his shoulder,” Finebaum added.
.@finebaum has effusive praise for Kirby Smart as a head coach. Paul joined Jim Donnan and me on @UGASportscom to preview UGA-Tennessee, share Vince Dooley stories, and analyze the SEC.

Finebaum goes on to talk about how Smart has managed his quarterback situations over the years, especially the controversy with Justin Fields.
Smart has the Bulldogs in line for a third College Football Playoff appearance, but will need to beat No. 1 Tennessee this weekend at SanFord Stadium.
