Peyton Manning explains his level of interest in being the NFL commissioner

Peyton Manning one day as the NFL’s commissioner? The Tennessee legend has proven capable in every role he’s served, whether as a quarterback, or now as an ESPN personality.
However, to borrow a phrase from his ESPN colleague Lee Corso, not so fast my friend. Manning shot down any potential interest in the position during an appearance on #PFTPM.
“I’m not qualified, in my opinion,” Manning said via ProFootballTalk. “… That’s just not something that’s on my radar. Specifically because I don’t think I’m qualified to do it.”
Manning went on to praise current commissioner Roger Goodell, who handed him his first Super Bowl trophy. The 2-time Super Bowl champion has no desire to fill Goodell’s shoes.
“Roger looks a lot younger back in 2007 than he does now,” Manning said. “And it hasn’t been that long ago…He’s done a heck of a job. I’m not sure anybody wants to follow Roger Goodell as Commissioner. It’s like following John Wooden at UCLA. The bar has been set high. Roger takes criticism, certainly. But I think he’s done a great job.”
Manning’s alma mater Tennessee will aim for a 10th victory this season when the Vols travel to take on South Carolina and they’ll be decked out in some sweet new orange helmets.
