PrizePicks and the NBA today announced a new multi-year partnership which will see the company become an official daily fantasy sports partner of the league.

The new partnership will expand PrizePicks fan engagement through new experiences and content, such as an integration of NBA intellectual property across the company’s daily fantasy and free-to-play platforms and marketing initiatives.

“This partnership with the NBA marks an important milestone for PrizePicks as we continue to grow alongside one of the most iconic leagues in sports,” Mike Ybarra, CEO at PrizePicks, said in a release. “Basketball has always been at the heart of our brand, and this collaboration reflects our deep roots in the game. Our focus has always been on delivering fun and responsible experiences, and working with the NBA allows us to bring that commitment to fans through innovative integrations that enhance how they engage with the game.”

NBA IP Now Available to PrizePicks

The agreement enable PrizePicks to initiate promotional campaigns and participate in co-marketing efforts across NBA digital and media platforms. The company will also be able to use NBA League, collective NBA Team, and NBA event marks across approved digital platforms, including its app and website.

โ€œPrizePicks has established itself as a leader in daily fantasy sports through innovation and a strong focus on the fan,โ€ Eric Rimsky, Head of Domestic Fantasy, NBA, said in a release. โ€œWeโ€™re excited to collaborate with PrizePicks to enhance the NBA fan experience by combining the leagueโ€™s unmatched moments with PrizePicksโ€™ interactive innovation, creating new and engaging ways for fans to connect with the game.โ€

Through the agreement, the National Basketball Players Association will allow PrizePicks to use images of multiple NBA players in its marketing, content, and promotional activities.

Recent New York Relaunch

PrizePicks will be able to potentially use the likeness of New York Knicks athletes in its promotional materials in the state, as the company announced a relaunch of its peer-to-peer daily fantasy sports contests in the state earlier this year.

PrizePicks DFS games returned to New York for the first time since the company shut down its paid contests in the state in February 2024. Following a legal settlement with the New York State Gaming Commission in 2024, PrizePicks worked with state gaming regulators to ensure its peer-to-peer contests were within New Yorkโ€™s fantasy sports requirements.

PrizePicks altered its New York contests in 2024 after the New York State Gaming Commission amended its daily fantasy sports rules to prohibit contests that mimic proposition bets. The criteria for DFS games are clear, as they prohibit any and all games that resemble proposition betting.

โ€œThese would include statutory standards as well as a requirement that contests shall not be based on proposition betting and shall not have the effect of mimicking proposition betting. Contests in which a contestant chooses whether an individual athlete or a single team will surpass an identified statistical achievement would be prohibited,โ€ a paragraph of the approved rules reads.
