Georgia’s Natrez Patrick laid some lumber on Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs on Saturday, and he seemed pretty affected by it. There was no flag, and Dobbs threw a pick on the very next play. Questionable indeed.

Just like last year, the Florida/Vanderbilt game set offensive football back about 40 years. Just when the Gators were about to put the Commodores out of their misery, the snap was mistimed and transfer superstar Austin Appleby couldn’t get there in time. This blunder wouldn’t cost the Gators, as the resulting drive ended in a Vandy turnover.

All those clichés that Butch Jones rattles off during interviews about playing a full 60 minutes looked to be lost on Jalen Hurd during this play. Hurd casually strolled to what he thought was an open end zone and POW, fumble, turnover.

This is a double bone-headed move here, as the Georgia offense found themselves backed up at their own one-yard line. The coaching staff elected to call a pass out of the shotgun with freshman quarterback Jacob Eason, and that went about as bad as it could’ve. A routine clock-killing drive for Georgia turned into a nightmare as Tennessee took the lead.
Not-so-Smart coaching
On Twitter, reaction to the final 2 minutes of the Georgia/Tennessee game was as wild and varied as the game itself. In true Les Miles fashion, Georgia coach Kirby Smart elected to leave the clock run during the final drive, killing 30 seconds of game clock, rather than than take a timeout.

Kickers aren’t supposed to make tackles, and Penn State’s Joey Julius has been laying people out this year. He’s become a fan favorite, and it seems that the rest of the Big 10 is tired of his shenanigans. Don’t let them stop you, Joey.

A quick pop to the head got Xavier Lewis kicked out of this one. Wasn’t spearing or laying a huge it, but he led with the helmet nonetheless.

With each passing week, this game looked more winnable for the Missouri Tigers. There was no Leonard Fournette, no Les Miles, and Danny Etling at quarterback, yet the Bayou Bengals still clobbered their northern counterparts 42-7. Coach Orgeron’s physical brand of football apparently rubbed Mizzou the wrong way, as there were two targeting calls, a fight, and this double ejection late in Saturday’s game.
