South Carolina running back Rahsul Faison has been deemed eligible by the NCAA.
Faison, a transfer addition for the Gamecocks this offseason, had been in limbo with regards to his status for this upcoming year. With less than a week to go before the start of the 2025 season, Faison has been officially cleared to play.

Like many former JUCO players, it was believed Faison was granted a blanket year of eligibility late last year as a result of Diego Pavia’s landmark legal battle. However, Faison’s case proved to be more complicated as his 5-year clock had already expired. He was initially a member of the 2018 high school recruiting class. In the end, though, Faison has been granted another season of eligibility.
It’s massive news for both Faison and the South Carolina offense. Faison is expected to be the Gamecocks’ starting running back this season following a breakout year at Utah State in 2024 that saw him rush for over 1,100 yards.
If Faison had not been cleared to play, South Carolina would have been reliant on an inexperienced group of running backs. Instead, Faison immediately becomes one of the more dynamic players at that position in the SEC.
South Carolina will open the 2025 season against Virginia Tech on Aug. 31.
