It seems like SEC teams always either have a dominating quarterback or a dominating running back. It’s rare when they have both.
Reflecting on 2015, here’s our list of the best RB/QB combos in the SEC.
1. Brandon Allen and Alex Collins, Arkansas: Collins flew under the radar in an SEC heavy with RB talent, but he finished the year ranked third in the conference with 1,392 yards and 17 touchdowns. Allen’s numbers speak for themselves. He finished the season with 3,125 yards, 29 touchdowns and just seven interceptions.
2. Jake Coker and Derrick Henry, Alabama: This one is tougher because Coker struggled at times. He still finished the regular season as the fourth-ranked quarterback in the SEC with 2,489 yards, 17 TDs and eight interceptions. We all know what Derrick Henry did. There’s little debate there.
3. Brandon Harris and Leonard Fournette, LSU: This duo is making the list largely due to Fournette’s dominance. He finished second in the SEC behind only Henry with 1,741 yards and 18 TDs. Harris wasn’t bad, but he wasn’t great, either. He had 1,904 passing yards, 12 TDs and five interceptions.
4. Joshua Dobbs and Jalen Hurd, Tennessee: An underrated combo with Dobbs passing for 2,125 yards, 15 TDs and five picks. Hurd finished fourth in the SEC in rushing with 1,158 yards and 11 TDs.
5. Kyle Allen and Tra Carson, Texas A&M: Despite all of the drama surrounding Allen, he finished fifth in the SEC in passing with 2,210 yards, 17 TDs and seven interceptions. Tra Carson was productive all season, finishing with 1,059 yards and six TDs.
