The Alabama Crimson Tide are completely overhauling their secondary this offseason, so it wouldn’t have been too surprising to see 4-star 2018 signee Josh Jobe on the two-deep depth chart to start the season.

However, the athlete out of Connecticut apparently has some academic work to do to ensure he can enroll in May like he’s supposed to.

According to AL.com, Jobe’s high school coach said Jobe might have to do some summer work before enrolling at Alabama, but he thinks there’s still a good chance Jobe will enroll when he’s supposed to:

“It’s all coming down to the wire,” Cheshire coach David Dykeman said. “He’s done a great job here this year. I think he’s really grown academically and had some success. It’s going to be close. But I’m confident he’ll make it.

“I think worst case is that he may have to do a little summer work to get there. But again, I’m pretty confident that he’s going to be OK (to enroll in May).”

It sounds like Jobe will, at the very minimum, be available for the Tide this fall. However, missing out on the early summer practices would hinder his progress and his ability to learn Nick Saban’s defense.

This will be something the Tide will be monitoring as the spring wears on.
