Texas A&M wants to fix its offense, and it will certainly be paying its new offensive coordinator a good chunk of change to do it.

According to Kate Hairopoulus of DallasNews.com, the Aggies will pay Noel Mazzone $965,000 in 2016. Mazzone, who left UCLA after two seasons to sign a three-year deal with Texas A&M, will make $800,000 in base salary to go with a $165,000 signing bonus.

That’s nearly double what the school paid former offensive coordinator Jake Spavital last season. According to USA Today, Spavital earned $486,110 while in College Station for 2015.

Mazzone received $864,000 while at UCLA last season, including more than $330,000 as part of a retention bonus.

He led a Bruins offense that finished 28th in the FBS in total offense last season (465.9 yards per game) and 25th in passing offense (288.3).
