With news of two Alabama backup quarterbacks announcing transfers this week, some have begun wonder what the Crimson Tide would do in the event of an injury to starter Jalen Hurts.

A source told ESPN’s Alex Scarborough that Cooper Bateman will stay on through the College Football Playoff.

Reports surfaced that Bateman would transfer on Sunday. On Wednesday, David Cornwell posted a statement on Twitter announcing he also plans to transfer.

Bateman became the team’s top backup after Blake Barnett transferred in September. He also appeared in 13 games as a holder on field goals and extra points. He has thrown for 119 yards and a touchdown in limited action this season.

As of Wednesday, both backup quarterbacks are working out with the team in preparation for the national semifinal against Washington:
