Auburn offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at Tulsa, according to 247Sports.

Citing sources, 247Sports reports former Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt and Maryland defensive coordinator Brian Stewart are also in the running.

The report late Tuesday comes on the heels of a report from the Tulsa World saying Lashlee had shown interest in the job, which became open Dec. 1 after the Golden Hurricanes fired former coach Bill Blankenship after a 3-9 season.

The 31-year-old Lashlee is in his fourth season as a collegiate coach, having spent one year as offensive coordinator at Samford before joining Gus Malzahn at Arkansas State and Auburn.

Malzahn primarily handles the play-calling duties, however Lashlee does work on the game plan during the week and offers input and adjustments in-game.

Tulsa had success under Malzahn and Chad Morris who ran up-tempo schemes for the Golden Hurricanes.

Lashlee does have ties to the Tulsa area. Growing up in Northwest Arkansas, he nearly followed Malzahn to Tulsa as a graduate assistant in 2007.
