Now that teams have finished all four preseason games, it’s time to make some difficult decisions when it comes to paring down rosters to only 53 players.
Unfortunately for Carolina Panthers rookie WR Fred Ross, he injured his ankle at exactly the wrong time and will now be placed on waivers.
According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, the former Mississippi State star will be placed on injured reserve if he clears waivers:
The #Panthers are waiving/injured WR Fred Ross, who recently suffered a high-ankle sprain & bone bruise, source said. IR when he clears.

As a senior in 2016, Ross recorded 72 catches for 917 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was not drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, though, and signed with Carolina as an undrafted free agent.
What happens with Ross when he gets healthy remains to be seen, but the former Bulldog will likely get a shot on an NFL roster at some point.
