Report: Former Auburn offensive assistant finalizing deal to join ACC program

A former member of Auburn’s staff is reportedly landing a new job with an ACC program.
According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, Jack Bicknell Jr. is “finalizing a deal” to join Scott Satterfield’s staff at Louisville. Bicknell was Auburn’s offensive line coach in 2020, after previously serving in that position at Ole Miss from 2017-19. He was not retained by the Tigers following the hiring of Bryan Harsin as head coach.
Earlier in his coaching career, Bicknell was the head coach at Louisiana Tech from 1999-2006. He went 43-52 over eight seasons, getting fired after the Bulldogs went 3-10 in his final year at the helm.
Bicknell also has experience coaching in the NFL. He was the New York Giants’ assistant offensive line coach from 2009-11 (winning Super Bowl XLVI at the end of his final season), the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line coach in 2012, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line coach in 2013, and the Miami Dolphins’ assistant offensive line coach from 2014-15.
Auburn had some struggles during its only season with Bicknell on its staff. The Tigers went 6-5, fired head coach Gus Malzahn and ended the season with a loss to Northwestern in the Citrus Bowl.
Bicknell is now joining a Louisville team that is coming off a 4-7 season. The Cardinals will be looking to get back on track in 2021.
