Report: Former Florida DL Caleb Brantley has complaint against him dropped

It appears Cleveland’s decision to gamble on former Florida defensive lineman Caleb Brantley with the first pick of the sixth round has paid off, as the sworn complaint against the former standout Gator lineman has reportedly been dropped.
Once projected as one of the best interior defensive linemen in the 2017 NFL Draft, Brantley took a major tumble after being involved in this incident. Brantley has initially ruled the victim in the incident when it first became public knowledge.
According to Robbie Andreu of The Gainesville Sun, this news comes after police found insufficient evidence to charge Brantley.

The State Attorney’s Office recently concluded its investigation in the Brantley case and there was not enough evidence to charge him.

Part of the problem with the case was the fact the alleged victim did not initially help with the investigation.
The alleged victim had been drinking heavily and did not initially cooperate in the investigation, according to the SA office.

Brantley recently expressed his gratitude to Cleveland for taking him when so many others passed on him and expressed his belief that the situation would come up in his favor.
“I ain’t going to say I did hear all the stuff that was said about me, but there’s definitely a chip on my shoulder,” Brantley said. “I’m just going to go out and prove everybody wrong who said bad things about me, said I have character issues and all of that. But … I ain’t really worried about it. I’m just ready to move on.”
“I wouldn’t say it was hanging over me. I’m just thankful for the opportunity that the Browns gave me. I’m just thankful I get to be here and try to make the team.”
