Mississippi State has finally found a replacement for Manny Diaz.
According to the Los Angeles Times, and now confirmed by The Clarion-Ledger, Dan Mullen has hired USC’s Peter Sirmon to fill the vacancy at defensive coordinator.
Over the last two seasons, Sirmon has been the associate head coach of the Trojans defense, while also serving as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator.
Sirmon has a couple years of coaching experience in the SEC, spending the 2010 and 2011 seasons with Tennessee, first as a graduate assistant and safeties coach before coaching linebackers in 2011.
Sirmon played linebacker in the NFL for the Tennessee Titans from 2000-06 after playing four seasons of collegiate football at Oregon.
