Redshirt freshman Jamel Dean is out indefinitely with a knee injury, according to a report from 247Sports. He did not participate in Saturday’s scrimmage.
Dean (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) was a four-star prospect from the recruiting class of 2015 and had been competing for the starting cornerback spot on the opposite side of Carlton Davis. He was a standout player his senior season of high school, racking up 1,423 all-purpose yards, 16 touchdowns, 20 tackles and seven pass deflections as a two-way athlete.
Dean initally signed and enrolled with Ohio State but transferred to Auburn after the Buckeyes’ medical staff disqualified him. He sat out the 2015 season.
