According to a report from The Telegraph, the University of Georgia athletic association’s board of directors has approved a proposal for improvements to Sanford Stadium, Stegeman Coliseum, and the Boyd Golf Center. The budget will be initially set for $11.7 million.
In particular, the football stadium will see upgrades within the LED ribbon boards surrounding the field, as well in regards to its fire alarm system. The ribbon boards display messages throughout the contests. They also show the various sponsors supporting the university.
The new upgrades will allow for the banners to extend all the way around the third level of Stanford Stadium. These beacons of information will also include the latest in LED technology.
In February, the school began construction on a state-of-the-art indoor practice facility. The original timeline had the project finishing by January of next year. According to AD Greg McGarity, this hasn’t changed:
“Our indoor athletic facility is on schedule and on budget. There’s a lot of work going on. We’re working as quickly as possible to finish that project. Right now, things are going very well.”
