The 2025 college football season is finally almost here, and that means that every major figure around the sports media landscape is getting their picks in for who they believe the true contenders will be this fall.
One of the hottest picks has been the Clemson Tigers, and for good reason, given that they have one of the most stacked rosters in the sport and are led by a man who has proven he knows what it takes to get to the mountain top in Dabo Swinney.
The latest big name to come out in support of the Tigers for 2025 has been none other than legendary ESPN commentator Scott Van Pelt, who recently stated that he believes that Clemson has what it takes to win it all once again.
“I’m long on Clemson. I’m just telling you,” Van Pelt told David Pollack on a recent episode of the “See Ball, Get Ball” podcast. “That’s the thing I feel best about. The team that I believe in the most. I feel like I saw it last year. They’ve invested in their program. They’ve retained the people that matter. They’ve got freaks on defense. And Klubnik, I think, can do it. That’s a team I really like.”
There’s no question that the Tigers have all the tools to make another run at a national title in 2025, but the road is sure to be far from easy in getting there.
Van Pelt and everybody else will get a very good early look at what this Clemson side is capable of in week one when they welcome the LSU Tigers for a prime-time clash in Death Valley.
Clemson is a 4-point favorite over LSU in that season-opening clash, per the latest college football betting lines. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 30.
