SEC announces Week 10 men’s basketball players of the week

Being a main part of Florida knocking off No. 11 West Virginia was enough to make Colin Castleton SEC Player of the Week this week as announced by the league office.
Castleton, a 6-foot-11, 231-pound junior, averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks while he shot 70.6 percent (12-of-17) from the field and 90.9 percent (10-of-11) from the free throw line in wins over Vanderbilt and at No. 11 West Virginia. In Saturday’s game, Castleton scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half. as he led the Gators with 21 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots. He shot 9-for-9 from the free throw line (7-for-7 second half) while blocking five shots for the third time in his last five games.
Florida improved to 7-3 since the Florida State game when preseason Player of the Year Keyontae Johnson collapsed on the court during the game. The Gators return to action against South Carolina on Wednesday.
The SEC Freshman of the Week was Tennessee guard Jaden Springer, a 6-foot-4, 204-pounder, who averaged 11 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds in wins over Mississippi State and No. 15 Kansas.
Against Kansas, Springer earned his first start since returning from injury to score 13 points, pull down four rebounds and record three assists, while connecting on all seven of his attempts from the foul line.
