There is again a ton of talent around the SEC heading into the 2021 season, and the preseason accolades are proving it.
On Wednesday, the 2021 CBS Sports/247Sports Preseason All-America teams were announced, and they were filled with players from the SEC. In fact, the SEC had 19 players selected to either the first or second team, while no other conference had more than 10. The SEC’s 8 first-team selections were also the most of any conference.
Although the SEC dominated the teams, Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler was named the CBS Sports/247Sports Preseason Player of the Year and Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley earned Preseason Coach of the Year honors.
The teams were decided by a panel of college football experts, with three players earning unanimous first-team selections by receiving every vote: Iowa State running back Breece Hall, Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr.
There were 8 SEC teams represented, with Alabama’s 6 selections among the pair of teams being the most of any school in the nation.
