Texas A&M has never reached the College Football Playoff. However, SEC Network analyst Alyssa Lang believes this is the year the Aggies will finally break through.
Lang made the bold prediction on social media leading up to No. 19 Texas A&M‘s season opener against visiting UTSA in Week 1.
The Aggies went 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the SEC to reach the Las Vegas Bowl last season during Year 1 of the Mike Elko era. Elko supplanted Jimbo Fisher, who was released after 6 seasons with just 1 losing campaign.
Texas A&M will have plenty of opportunities to bolster its CFP chances in the stacked SEC. Texas A&M has matchups against 4 ranked SEC teams this season: at home vs. No. 13 South Carolina and No. 15 Florida while also traveling to No. 1 Texas and No. 9 LSU. Texas A&M also heads to South Bend for a matchup with No. 6 Notre Dame.
Texas A&M hasn’t won double-digit games in a season since going 11-2 under Kevin Sumlin in 2012.
Texas A&M has won both matchups in the all-time series vs. UTSA. In the last matchup in 2019, the Aggies beat the Roadrunners 45-14. UTSA at Texas A&M is set for Aug. 30 (7 p.m. ET) on ESPN.
