The SEC seems to be maintaining a firm grasp on its newfound standing as a power in the college basketball world.

Three of the top 10 teams in the Week 3 AP Top 25 hail from the conference, led by Tennessee at No. 5. Auburn moved up one spot to No. 8, while Kentucky held steady at No. 10.

The SEC’s three top-10 teams were tied with the ACC for the most nationally. This week, the traditionally strong conference is home to No. 1 Duke, No. 4 Virginia and No. 7 North Carolina.

But the SEC had two other representatives in the Top 25 who have climbed the rankings since opening day. Mississippi State moved up two spots to No. 17, while LSU isn’t far back at No. 19 after checking in at No. 22 a week ago.

Florida (7 votes), Vanderbilt (4) and Arkansas (1) were the other SEC teams to earn some recognition from AP voters.
