SEC talent continues to take over the NBA and that trend extends to this new season. There’s currently 92 SEC players on NBA rosters, which stands as the most for any conference.
Every NBA franchise except the San Antonio Spurs features at least 1 SEC player on their roster.
Kentucky leads the conference with 26 players, followed by Arkansas (10), Alabama (9), LSU (9), Florida (6), Tennessee (6), Texas A&M (6), Auburn (5), Vanderbilt (5), Missouri (5), Georgia (3), and South Carolina (2). The lone SEC program without an active NBA player is Ole Miss.
The SEC has 13 current players who have made the All-Star Game: Anthony Davis, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal, Bam Adebayo, Anthony Edwards, Al Horford, Karl-Anthony Towns, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, De’Aaron Fox, Ben Simmons, Khris Middleton, Darius Garland, and DeAndre Jordan.
Meanwhile, Kentucky’s Jamal Murray is coming off a season in which he helped guide the Denver Nuggets to the franchise’s first NBA title.
The future is also ripe with SEC talent, as the conference led the nation with 6 first round picks and 10 selections in the 2023 NBA Draft. Alabama’s Brandon Miller went No. 2 to the Charlotte Hornets, with Arkansas’ Anthony Black (No. 6 to Orlando Magic) and Kentucky’s Cason Wallace (No. 10 drafted by the Dallas Mavericks, traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder) as the SEC’s other top 10 picks.
