Just six SEC teams have a winning road record in the last five years.
It’s no surprise that the Crimson Tide lead the SEC by a wide margin in road winning percentage since the 2011 season. Also impressive, Alabama is 8-2 on the road vs. ranked opponents in the last five years, dropping close games at Auburn (’13) and at Ole Miss (’14).
Two relative SEC newcomers rank very high in Texas A&M and Missouri. Those two teams are a combined 28-19 on the road in the last five years, four of which they’ve spent in the SEC.
Perhaps Vanderbilt should play all its games away from Nashville, as the Commodores have been better than three other SEC teams on the road.
Tennessee, on the other hand, is going to have to string together its first winning record on the road since 2006 if the Vols are going to reach a championship level this fall. That goes for Ole Miss as well, which went a combined 5-4 as a true road team even with New Year’s Six bowl teams in ’14 and ’15.
Kentucky has celebrated 17 of its 19 wins since ’15 at Commonwealth Stadium. UK also beat Western Kentucky at LP Field in Nashville (2011) and South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium (2015).
