SEC West staffer reportedly had strong reaction to Matt Corral being snubbed from Heisman finalists
We now know what four finalists will be up for the Heisman Trophy this upcoming Saturday night. They are Michigan defender Aidan Hutchinson, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud, and Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who is a huge favorite and expected to win.
One quarterback that didn’t make the cut was Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral. The Rebels QB finished with 3,339 yards, 20 touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions.
An injury and losses to both Alabama and Auburn, all but killed Corral’s chances of winning the award, although one SEC West staffer thought Corral should have at least been invited to New York, according to Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.
Text from an SEC West staff member today after he learned of the Heisman finalists: “Matt Corral was the best QB we played this year.” https://t.co/tvJyZnEt5i
