Shane Beamer is familiar with the rhetoric from South Carolina fans that the team was treated unfairly by officials during their heartbreaking Week 2 loss to LSU on Saturday.

Still, the Gamecocks head coach pointed to several mistakes throughout the afternoon that he felt were part of his team’s undoing.

“The officials did not cause us to jump offsides twice. The officials did not cause us to lose leverage on a zero blitz and give up a completion. The officials didn’t cause us to miss some tackles,” Beamer said on his Sunday teleconference with media, according to Rivals.com’s Alan Cole.

That doesn’t mean that Beamer didn’t feel there were some questionable calls among the 13 penalties assessed to his team, noting that he and athletic director Ray Tanner had been in discussion with the SEC both after the game and on Sunday.

Still, the mistakes made by the Gamecocks ultimately loomed large as a 17-point lead ultimately turned into a defeat in front of the Williams-Brice Stadium crowd.

“At the end of the day, we didn’t do enough well to win the game,” Beamer added.
