Just days before the NFL draft, former Missouri defensive end Shane Ray was cited for marijuana. The news was first reported by Brandon Kiley, the host of KTGR SportsWire, via Twitter.

Ray is projected to be a first-round draft pick Thursday night.

The arrest report describes Ray’s charge: 1) Possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana 2) Fail to drive in the right lane of the highway with two or more lanes. He was picked up at 6:07 a.m. this morning in Cooper County, Missouri, and he was later released.

According to reports, Ray was pulled over for speeding at 5:46 a.m. The officer smelled marijuana and found the marijuana in a compartment within the car. Ray was cited for a Class C misdemeanors for 35 grams of marijuana and failing to drive in the right lane of a highway with two or more lanes.

This could hurt Ray’s draft stock, but it would be surprising if he fell completely out of the first round.

We’ll keep you updated as new information is released.
