Arkansas made the decision to fire coach Sam Pittman on Sunday afternoon following an embarrassing 56-13 home loss to Notre Dame on Saturday.

The Razorbacks made Bobby Petrino their interim coach for the rest of the season, and he’ll be included among the candidates for the full-time position moving forward as the Hogs embark on a national coaching search.

After news of the firing broke, social media lit up with reactions to the decision from Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek. Pittman is a popular guy in football circles, but the results on the field simply haven’t been there this year.

Here’s a look at some of the reaction from X (formerly Twitter) to the news out of Fayetteville:

Will Pittman indeed take an OL coaching job moving forward? Or is this the last we’ve seen of him on a college football sideline? Only time will tell.

For now, Arkansas will try to bounce back from a 2-3 start to the season. Petrino will have his hands full as the Hogs visit Tennessee on Oct. 11 following a bye next weekend. After that are 3-straight home matchups against Texas A&M, Auburn and Mississippi State.
