LSU lost a commitment Friday evening in 4-star defensive lineman Patrick Jenkins.

Jenkins, from Marrero, La., had been committed to LSU since June 17, 2019, but things have changed. The 6-2, 285-pound lineman attends John Ehret High School.

“First off I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play at the next level but after careful consideration, talks with my family and prayer, I have decided to decommit from Louisiana State University,” Jenkins wrote on Twitter. “Also I want to thank all the coaches at LSU for taking their time out to recruit me. I appreciate the opportunity, but I have to do what’s best for me.”

Jenkins is ranked as the nation’s No. 28 defensive tackle and the state of Louisiana’s No. 12 overall prospect for the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He holds offers from schools around the nation, including Arizona, TCU and Arkansas, among others.

LSU now has 22 commits for the class of 2020, including five other defensive tackles.
