Tennessee sealed an upset victory over Alabama on Saturday afternoon thanks to a last-minute interception by Will Brooks.

With the Vols leading 24-17 and just 90 seconds on the clock, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe had to choice but to force the issue. The result was an interception by Brooks to effectively end Alabama’s comeback attempt.

Here’s video of the game-clinching play:

This was Tennessee’s second interception of the game. The first came early on when cornerback Jermod McCoy picked off Milroe in the end zone to keep Alabama off the scoreboard.

For Brooks, it’s his second interception of the season. He also had one against NC State back on Sept. 7. Brooks is from Birmingham, Alabama, and is a former walk-on who joined the program way back in 2020.

This was Tennessee’s second consecutive win over Alabama at Neyland Stadium. The Vols are now 7-1 on the season and appear to be in good shape as they contend for a College Football Playoff berth in 2024.

Tennessee is idle next weekend before hosting Kentucky in Week 10.
