A Tennessee fan offered Josh Heupel some advice on how to correct some of the issues in UT’s passing game.

Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel shares that Wednesday’s “Vol Calls” included a fan’s take on the problem with deep passes.

“I hope in practice, we’ve worked on our downfield passes,” Robbie Slack from Tallahassee said during the weekly coaches show. “You can throw darts as hard as you want to. But if you don’t hit that board, you’re not going to get points.”

Per Sparks, Heupel acknowledged that the Vols are working on correcting passing issues.

“The vertical passing game is something we absolutely have to connect on,” Heupel said on the show. “There were plenty of opportunities where we’re clearly behind the defense and have opportunities to create huge plays and we don’t take advantage of it like we can.

“I’ve seen us connect on those things in the course of practices and scrimmages. We’ve got to get right on gameday.”

Vols passers and receivers should be able to build some confidence in Week 3. UT hosts Tennessee Tech on Saturday. The game is set for noon ET.
