Tennessee OC Alex Golesh: ‘The football gods were with us’ at No. 17 Pitt

The football gods are absolutely real.

And Tennessee offensive coordinator Alex Golesh noticed their work in Tennessee’ 34-27 overtime win over No. 17 Pitt on the road. The Vols, despite scoring just 3 points in the second half, were able to get it done when it mattered despite trying their absolute hardest to give it away.

Golesh will take the W.

Thing is, I would argue luck was not on Tennessee’s side for much of Saturday’s contest. The Vols muffed a punt preceding a drive that would have just about put things away. Instead, Pitt marched the field and tied it up heading into overtime.

Other notable moments in the game came down to Tennessee’s defense making a play when it needed to. The luckiest thing that happened to Tennessee, in a terrible way, was not having to see Rodney Hammond or Kedon Slovis in the second half.
