Tennessee fans will have one more reason to celebrate a huge SEC opener with Georgia on Saturday.
The Vols are set to honor John Henderson at halftime of Saturday’s showdown at Neyland Stadium, recognizing his selection to the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame.
John Henderson dominated in the trenches for Tennessee, using his size and relentless motor to terrorize offenses, capture the Outland Trophy, and lead the Volunteers to national success during his storied career,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell in a release. “We are thrilled to honor him at Neyland Stadium as a member of the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame Class.
Henderson, one of the most dominant defensive linemen in program history, was a two-time consensus All-American (2000, 2001) and the 2000 Outland Trophy winner. That resume carried him to the NFL, where the Jacksonville Jaguars made him the No. 9 overall pick in the 2002 draft.
With his induction, he becomes the 23rd Volunteer player to join the Hall of Fame — taking his place alongside Tennessee legends like Reggie White, Peyton Manning and Eric Berry.
The salute will give fans the chance to honor Henderson on the field one more time, adding to what’s already a huge afternoon in Knoxville.
