Jason Witten announced as new head coach at Texas high school

Jason Witten won’t officially be retired from the NFL until March, but the Tennessee great has already lined up his new gig.
On Monday, Liberty Christian School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area announced that Witten will be the football team’s new head coach.
“Liberty Christian School is excited to announce our new Head Football Coach Jason Witten,” a tweet from the school reads. “Jason, former Dallas Cowboy tight end and long-time Liberty parent will be joining the Liberty Christian coaching staff as Head Football Coach. It’s a great day to be a Warrior!”
It was just last week that ESPN reported Witten had decided to retire from the NFL for a second time. His contract with the Las Vegas Raiders expires in March. He will then sign a one-day contract to retire as a Dallas Cowboy.
A former Tennessee standout, Witten spent all but one year of his 17-season pro career in Dallas. The Cowboys selected Witten in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft with the No. 69 overall pick. He played 15 seasons in Dallas (2003-17) before his initial retirement after the 2017 season.
In 2018, Witten joined ESPN to serve as the lead analyst on Monday Night Football broadcasts. He decided to unretire and return to the Dallas Cowboys for the 2019 season. In March 2020, he signed with the Raiders.
