As No. 7 Texas aims to bounce back after the season-opening 14-7 loss at Ohio State, they’ll once again be without a key wide receiver. Sophomore Emmett Mosley V will sit out the matchup vs. San Jose State, his second consecutive missed game with a lower-body injury, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

The 6-foot-2 Mosley began his college career at Stanford. Last season, he had the most receptions for ACC freshmen (48). Mosley, who was born in Chicago, played high school football in California, where he was the No. 41 prospect in the state according to 247Sports. In last offseason’s transfer portal, Mosley was the No. 47 wide receiver.

Mosley certainly comes from an athletic family. His father, Emmett Sr., played wide receiver and running back for Notre Dame. His mother, Cindy, also played as a midfielder on the Fighting Irish’s women’s soccer team.

In quarterback Arch Manning’s debut as starter, Texas’ offense floundered against Ohio State. Manning had just 170 passing yards while the Longhorns went 5-for-14 on third downs.

Texas is 1-0 all-time against San Jose State. In the lone previous meeting, Texas blanked San Jose State 56-0 on Sept. 9, 2017. San Jose State vs. Texas is slated for a 12 p.m. ET kickoff and will be televised on ABC.
