That’s all it takes? Fans, media have great reactions to how quickly games are getting scheduled during COVID-19 pandemic

With this kind of turnaround, it makes you wonder why schools schedule games so far in the future.
With Baylor needing a game next week because of a cancellation with Louisiana Tech, and Houston losing its opener against Memphis both because of COVID-19 outbreaks, Baylor and Houston are reportedly coming together for a game.
It’s a natural fit, and offers the added in-state bonus for both programs, alumni and fans.
Here’s a collection of reaction to the sudden development from fans and media:
Coaches and analysts spend entire offseasons scouting their opponents.#Baylor & #Houston coaching staffs are springing into gear today – the first full Saturday of the CFB season – to scout the other … 6 days before the game.
Says a coach on one of the staffs: “It’s crazy.”

Baylor and Houston made a game happen in days (day? hours?) and the B1G still can’t figure out exactly what it wants to do.

Now that’s an interesting new matchup. Also wild how quickly this game has gotten scheduled after Baylor-Louisiana Tech got postponed this week and Houston-Memphis postponed next week due to issues with their opponents https://t.co/A4rpGzUNjL

Minnesota scheduled a home and away series with Cal in 2028 and 2029 earlier this year but now Baylor because of COVID schedules a really fun matchup vs Houston a week out. At least we finally got a good aspect 2020 has brought to the college football landscape. https://t.co/TOdPUnVIGC

Baylor and Houston had games postponed on the same day due to covid outbreaks among their oppoenents so they’re just going to play each other instead. Aside from the proliferation of a deadly illness the system works!

I enjoy the extreme randomness of 2020 college football. I imagine this was the discussion:
Baylor: Hey, wanna come over to play next week?
Houston: Sure.
Baylor: See ya Saturday.
Houston. Yep. https://t.co/wDCyX7Mkzw— Dan Kadar (@ByDanKadar) September 12, 2020
