Every now and then we see a non-SEC story that we feel necessary to share. This is one of those moments.
On Wednesday morning, Miami announced that coach Mark Richt — you know, that one guy that used to wear Georgia stuff on Saturday afternoons — would be generously donating $1 million of his own money to help build an indoor practice facility.
Prior to this update, the Hurricanes were the only school in the ACC to not have an indoor facility.
“I’m very confident it’s going to happen,” Richt said a little over a week ago, according to the Palm Beach Post. “In some ways it’s been approved, with maybe a few more hoops to jump through. I’m not sure how it all works, because every university’s different. But it’s rolling down the track really fast. I think it’s going to happen pretty quick.”
And then there was this video that has surfaced of Duke coach David Cutcliffe surprising a walk-on with a scholarship in unique fashion. Cutcliffe, of course, was an assistant at Tennessee from 1982-98 and then served as Ole Miss’ head coach from 1998-2004.
Good stuff from a pair of quality ACC coaches.
