BATON ROUGE, La. — Although like usual the University of Alabama football was beat up and tired after facing LSU, the only injury Coach Nick Saban mentioned during his postgame press conference was to T.J. Yeldon.
Saban said the junior running back had a “twisted ankle,” although didn’t know the severity of the injury.
Yeldon, who finished with 68 rushing yards on 15 carries, had been limited this past week due to an ankle injury sustained at Tennessee two weeks ago. It appeared to play a factor in his fumble late in Saturday’s 20-13 overtime victory, when two players landed on his injured area right before he lost control of the ball.
Also limited this past week was freshman left tackle Cam Robinson who sustained a high ankle sprain early in the third quarter against Tennessee, requiring surgery.
After recovering during the bye he returned to practice on Monday, but Alabama still practiced senior Austin Shepherd at left tackle, with sophomore Grant Hill stepping in at right tackle.
After he was medically cleared to play on Thursday, Robinson tweeted: “I haven’t forgotten anything. Personal!” regarding the backlash from LSU fans after he signed with Alabama. He started and played the whole game.
Junior linebacker Reggie Ragland confirmed that he sustained a hand fracture requiring surgery last Monday. It didn’t bother him, though, as he made 13 tackles, second only to junior defensive lineman Jarrad Reed’s 15.
Junior linebacker Denzel Devall (ankle) returned to the starting lineup after missing three games, and senior Brian Vogler (ankle, knee) also played but didn’t start.
LSU starting cornerback Rashard Robinson did not play while serving a suspension.
