When new Florida head coach Dan Mullen was the Gators’ offensive coordinator from 2005 to 2008, he had an incredible run of success.
Along with star QB Tim Tebow, Mullen and the Gators won two national championships and Tebow also won a national championship.
On Sunday night, Tebow weighed in on the Gators’ hire, saying he is thrilled that the Gators were able to bring back someone who has already had so much success with the program:
Tim Tebow on #Gators hiring Dan Mullen:
“I love that Coach Mullen is someone who understands the culture of the University of Florida and has won two national championships here…."— Matt Baker (@MBakerTBTimes) November 26, 2017
Tebow also issued a tweet of his own, congratulating his former offensive coordinator on the big move:
Thrilled that #GatorNation gets a coach who accepts our Championship expectations! Congrats and welcome home @CoachDanMullen and Ms.Megan! #LetsGet#4

Mullen would be wise to find some way to utilize Tebow moving forward, as the left-handed quarterback is one of the most-popular players in Florida (and SEC) history.
For now, though, it’s a time for celebration in Gainesville, as the Gators were able to make the kind of splashy hire that their SEC East rivals at Tennessee have been making a mess of so far.
