Tom Brady made his opinion of the 1-game suspension of Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans abundantly clear on Monday.

Evans, the former Texas A&M star, was ejected from Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints, and suspended for the Bucs’ next game against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 25, for his role in a fight with Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore. Evans argued he was acting in defense of Brady after he thought Lattimore had hit the quarterback.

Meanwhile, Brady, on his “Let’s Go” podcast, spoke out against Evans’ punishment.

“In the end, emotions are a part of sports. Sometimes they boil over and they obviously did (on Sunday),” he said. “And it’s an unfortunate circumstance. I don’t think it deserved any type of suspension. I think that’s ridiculous. You know hopefully we can move past it, get to a better place.”

He was appreciative of the fact that Evans came to his defense.

“I love Mike, and the fact that Mike would come out there to defend me, it means everything in the world to me as a teammate and a friend,” he said.
