Trevor Etienne played the hero for Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, taking a 4-yard carry to the end zone as the Bulldogs defeated Texas 22-19 in overtime.
The Bulldogs faced a 1st-and-goal at the Longhorns 4 after Texas took the lead on a 32-yard field goal on its OT possession. Carson Beck, who was injured at the end of the first half but was forced to come in after backup Gunner Stockton had his helmet knocked off by a Longhorns defender, handed off to Etienne, who took it in for the game-winner.

It was Etienne’s second touchdown of the game: he had a 10-yard score to start the second quarter. He finished with 94 yards on 16 attempts.
His last action before Saturday was on Nov. 9 against Ole Miss as he missed several weeks due to a rib injury. He was questionable for Saturday’s game, but was eventually ruled healthy enough to play as he wore a Kevlar vest for protection — ultimately scoring the winning touchdown for the Dawgs.
As for Georgia, it’s the program’s third SEC Championship under Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs will rank as one of the top 4 conference champions in the final College Football Playoff rankings, meaning a first-round bye in the 12-team field.
