The SEC is still among the best conferences when it comes to offensive line play.

Two league teams — Alabama and Georgia — were among the list of 10 semifinalists released Tuesday for the Joe Moore Award, which recognizes the nation’s most outstanding offensive line unit. The SEC tied with the ACC and Pac-12 with two representatives apiece among the semifinalists.

The other eight teams up for the award, which was founded in 2015 and named for legendary college offensive line coach Joe Moore, are as follows: Arizona State, Clemson, Memphis, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Washington State and Wisconsin.

It’s notable that six of the top seven teams in the most recent AP Top 25 poll are among the semifinalists, signaling the lasting importance of offensive lines even as offenses become more up-tempo and pass-happy.

Finalists for the Joe Moore Award will be chosen Dec. 4, with the recipient being announced following a surprise visit to the winner’s campus later that month.
