The Gamecocks won their cross-country battle with the Trojans for a two-sport star.

Three-star defensive end/tight end prospect Evan Hinson of Deltona, Fla., announced his commitment to South Carolina over Southern Cal via Twitter on Wednesday morning not long after we reported that he was down to those two schools.

As reported previously, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound Hinson also starred on the Deltona High School basketball team.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Hinson is the No. 30 tight end in the Class of 2016. He also received offers from Florida, Miami and Michigan.

Hinson was recruited by defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson as well as tight ends coach Pat Washington.
