South Carolina’s depth at running back may soon take a hit as senior running back Ty’son Williams has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. Williams was South Carolina’s third-leading rusher last season.

Williams transferred into the program from North Carolina for the 2016 season. He sat out that year due to NCAA transfer rules and appeared in 20 games for the Gamecocks over the previous two seasons. He has rushed for 799 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns for South Carolina on 165 carries.

Cole Cubelic of the SEC Network and Gamecock Central are both reporting that Williams has entered the transfer portal.

The Gamecock running back joins South Carolina teammates Shameik Blackshear, Javon Charleston, Jaylan Foster and Nick Harvey as players that have either entered the NCAA transfer portal or have already left the program via transfer.

Williams is a graduate of South Carolina, meaning if he does leave the program, he will be eligible immediately at his next school.
