Former college football coach Urban Meyer has changed his 2019 national champion pick, but probably not to the team most would expect.

At the beginning of the season, Meyer picked Clemson to repeat as champions this season. After five weeks, he’s changed his prediction to Alabama.

Clemson hasn’t lost, and Meyer still has the Tigers in the College Football Playoffs, but a lot of analysts are down on Clemson after the Tigers beat North Carolina by just one point last Saturday.

Meanwhile, Alabama has rolled, scoring at least 42 points in every game and posting an average margin of victory of 37.

Meyer does have his former team, Ohio State, in the College Football Playoffs as well, but the former coach is still predicting the SEC to land two playoff spots for the second time in the last three years.
