Urban Meyer was once the hottest coach in college football and won 3 national titles. Meyer won 2 national championships with the Florida Gators and 1 with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Meyer finished 2-11 during his brief tenure in Jacksonville, and now, he’s analyst on FOX Sports’ pregame show. The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a coaching vacancy after firing Scott Frost last Sunday, and it appears they are checking on Meyer’s interest in returning to coaching.

According to CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd, Nebraska has contacted Meyer about its coaching vacancy. This week was a convenient time to contact Meyer because he was in Lincoln for FOX Sports’ pregame show for the Nebraska-Oklahoma game.

The report states that it’s unclear if Meyer expressed interest about the coaching vacancy.

Nebraska fans chanted “We Want Urban” on FOX Sports pregame show Saturday morning.

Meyer left Ohio State in 2018 amid a controversy surrounding wide receivers coach Zach Smith. He then took the short-lived job in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
