Urban Meyer names B1G venue as toughest place to play in college football

Urban Meyer believes Penn State is the toughest place to play in all of college football.

The football coach-turned-analyst shared that opinion on social media on Friday afternoon. Big Noon Kickoff is in Happy Valley this weekend ahead of Penn State’s Week 6 matchup with UCLA.

Meyer said he used to believe that LSU was the toughest place to play — until he brought his Ohio State team into Beaver Stadium back in 2012.

“My first experience with the white out was in 2012 and I was shocked,” Meyer said. “I always thought LSU was the hardest environment to play in. I moved Penn State [ahead]. The student body is phenomenal … I think it’s 113,000 [fans], it feels like 200,000 people in there.

“And you walk from the locker room to the field and they’re all rattling the cages. The student body is fantastic. So I have that now as the No. 1 most difficult place to play in college football.”

Here’s video of Meyer’s comments:

Meyer made 4 trips to Penn State as the Ohio State head coach from 2012-18. The Buckeyes went 3-1 in those games, with their lone loss coming in 2016. However, it was never easy in Happy Valley for Ohio State during those years — two of those OSU wins were by a single possession.

Penn State will host UCLA at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon.
