It may have taken a while, but all of the dominoes in the SEC coaching carousel have finally fallen, and that means that the Auburn Tigers, among others, have finally landed their next head coach.

The next man tasked with bringing gridiron success back to the Plains is USF Bulls head coach Alex Golesh, who was announced as the new head man for the Tigers early on Sunday morning.

Following the announcement that he would officially be taking the job in Auburn, many former players and colleagues took to social media to congratulate Golesh on his new appointment, including USF AD Rob Higgins.

“Let me be the first to say we are truly excited for Alex, Alexis & their kids,” Higgins said. “We love Coach Golesh and are beyond grateful for what he has done for our program. Rest assured, we did everything within reason over the last few months to try and keep them here. We will be cheering them on always!”

Golesh took over at USF in 2023, leading the program to winning seasons in all 3 years he was there, including the 9-3 mark they currently sit at in 2025. Before that, he was a longtime assistant, serving most notably as Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel’s OC for 2 seasons before taking the job at USF.

Now, he’ll be tasked with using the wealth of experience he’s gained through the years to finally turn things around in Auburn and bring the storied program back to national prominence.
