Vanderbilt may not be playing an SEC team, but the Commodores have a big opportunity to make a statement about where they stand in the SEC East.

No. 8 Notre Dame is 2-0 and has already knocked off a top-15 team, No. 14 Michigan (24-17 in Week 1). The Fighting Irish will have a home-field advantage on Saturday, but don’t expect Derek Mason’s squad to be intimidated.

VU is also 2-0, having opened the 2018 campaign with a 35-7 win over Middle Tennessee State in Week 1. The Dores followed it up with a 41-10 win over Nevada in Week 2.

Below, find kickoff time, TV channel information and odds for the Vanderbilt-Notre Dame football game.

SDS News: Vanderbilt reveals unique uniform combo for game at Notre Dame

The Vanderbilt Commodores face a very tough test this weekend, traveling to South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

However, the Commodores are 2-0 and their defense is looking stout (and the offense serviceable) as they move through their schedule.

When they take on the Fighting Irish this weekend, they’ll do so in a sleek uniform combination — with white helmets, white jerseys and white pants.

Flashback: Derek Mason talks trip to Notre Dame at SEC Media Days

SEC Media Days were held July 17-19 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. When Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason spoke to the media, he was asked the Commodores’ trip to Notre Dame. He may have delivered the quote of the day with his reponse.

“Yeah, we play in the SEC,” Mason said. “I don’t worry about going to South Bend.”
