Video: Alabama stands between Leonard Fournette, Heisman Trophy
By John Crist
Published:
Two-thirds of the way through the regular season, Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson remains atop my Heisman Trophy ballot.
At the rate he’s going, Jackson is on pace for almost 4,000 yards passing and 1,500 yards rushing. Even more impressive, with 22 through the air and 16 on the ground already, he’ll be responsible for 57 total touchdowns.
As far as the SEC is concerned, the best candidate on the board at this point is LSU running back Leonard Fournette. But now he faces Alabama, which completely shut him down — 19 carries, 31 yards — this past season in Tuscaloosa. If he goes bananas Saturday in Baton Rouge, voters nationwide will notice.
Be sure to watch the video above for some quick commentary summing up my thoughts on the Heisman race prior to Week 10.
