Rece Davis praises LSU’s environment but doesn’t expect Death Valley to rattle Alabama
As a longtime ESPN employee and host of College GameDay since 2015, Rece Davis has seen his fair share of different college football environments.
In his opinion, no gameday experience can beat LSU’s.
Davis lauded Baton Rouge’s aura on fall Saturdays, especially the “mystique” of night games in Tiger Stadium, during a meeting with local reporters Friday. But he also explained why he doesn’t think Death Valley will play a huge role in Saturday’s titanic showdown between No. 3 LSU and No. 1 Alabama.
Below, you can see Davis’ full thoughts on both subjects in a pair of videos tweeted by LSU reporter Jacques Doucet.

“I will be surprised if the venue rattles Alabama,” Davis told reporters. “It may get them out of sorts on the opening series, or something like that. Maybe the opening series when Devin (White) comes in the second half, maybe. But for a long, sustained period of time, I don’t think Alabama has much of a history of kind of shaking in their boots due to wherever they’re playing.”
We’ll see just how much Death Valley influences the game when the Tigers (7-1, 5-1 SEC) host the Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0) at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
